Why does the school have a PA?

The main function of our PA is to support the school by raising as much money as we can to enhance, enrich and improve learning experiences for the children. The PA has worked hard over the years to fund the astroturf, the library, the new stage, the covered walkway and entire contents of the new Y6 classroom! We pay for ParentMail and we provide those ‘extras’ that make school memorable, such as Year 6 Leavers Books, Poetry Workshops, Musical Instruments and DT Projects.

We also exist to bring the communities of school and home closer together because it makes sense for parents to be involved in the life of their chosen school.

Lastly, we’re here for the simple reason that we want to get together socially, meet new people and have fun! Our annual Quiz is hugely popular and sells out every year, the Christmas School Discos are much anticipated and the kids always look forward to meeting Father Christmas himself when he comes to visit each class and hand out gifts.

Every parent or carer of any pupil in school is automatically a member of the PA! Class reps as well as committee roles exist and together we all volunteer to raise funds for our school.

The Annual General Meeting is held each year in September and all are welcome. This provides an excellent opportunity to find out more about our events and fundraising as well as how the money is spent.

Annual Events

  • Each year we run a number of events, these include:
  • Christmas Market
  • Christmas Discos
  • Father Christmas School Visit
  • Quiz Night
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Grandparents Afternoon
  • Sports Day Stalls

We are members of Parentkind, which is a national charity and membership organisation providing support and guidance to over 13,500 parent associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Membership includes comprehensive insurance cover by Zurich Insurance plc for all our association run events and gives access to support and advice.

How You Can Get Involved

The more people become involved, the more we can achieve and the easier it will be.

Even if you have younger children at home, or only a small amount of time, could you come to a meeting, help set up an event, serve food or design a poster? Perhaps you have a professional skill you could help us out with? You don’t have to come into the school; many of our volunteering tasks can be done from home.

  • Do you work for a company that might support the PA by donating a raffle prize or sponsoring a stall at our Christmas Market?
  • Do you work for a company that has a matched giving scheme for employees? If you don’t know, would you be prepared to ask them?
  • Please let us know of any skills or talents you would like to offer: e.g. craft hobbies, gardening, baking, woodworking, marketing.

We’d love to hear from you. You are free to get in touch with any of the committee members if you have questions, or you can email the PA at whitchurchpa20@gmail.com.
